Limbs distribution ceremony of Ramadan Project 2008

The distribution ceremony for the artificial limbs, prepared for those amputees registered in the holy month of Ramadan under the project “Limbs for All”, was held at Hope Rehabilitation Center head office in Johar Town Lahore. The ceremony was attended by the executive body members of Hope Rehabilitation Society, staff of the Hope Center, amputees and their accompanying persons. Mr. Justice (Rtd) Amer Raza Khan, Mr. Khalid Ghurki, Rtn. Shehzad Ahmed and Rtn Mohammad Aslam were the Guests of Honor.
Dr.Khalid Niaz Niazi, President Hope Rehabilitation Society, welcomed the guests and all participants and thanked them for their participation in the ceremony. Before the presentation Dr. Niazi introduced the honorable guests and highlighted their role and contribution towards the cause of the disabled people.


Dr.Niazi highlighted the role of Justice Rtd Amer Raza in providing high quality special education, rehabilitation and care of  the disabled by heading three institutions named Amin Maktab, Pak Society for the Rehabilitation of the Mentally Retarded Children and Lytton Rehmatullah Eye Hospital.
Mr. Khalid Ghurki was introduced to the worthy participants and his current role as elected Nazim (Mayor) Wahga Town and his past role as parliamentary secretary in National Assembly was louded. Himself being an amputee he had fair knowledge of the problems and difficulties faced by the amputees and being spouse of the federal minister of social welfare he was a back up support to solve the issues to the special people.


Rtn. Shehzad Ahmed was introduced as a senior Rotrian and governor elect North district ( Pakistan and Afghanistan) and had worked hard in providing aid and grants to many unique projects of leading welfare institutions. As president of Lahore Garrison Rotary Club Mr. Mohammad Aslam steered his club more and more towards to welfare oriented projects ever pursued and Dr.Niazi louded and thanked him for his cooperation with the HOPE in fighting and eliminating disability from our society.


Dr. Niazi in his presentation described past achievements of the project ‘Limbs For All’ by presenting slides. He explained that the L.F.A. project initiated six years ago is an ongoing project registering the poor and non-affording walk-in amputees everyday but special campaigns like current Ramadan Project are organized with relation to the important event or day of the year. He recalled the tragic events of the 2006 earthquake in Kashmir when Hope established a prosthetic center in Muzafarabad, Azad Kashmir where free prosthetics were provided to the 150 amputees. He revealed that Hope Society had offered free limbs to Baluchistan earthquake hit amputees.
The ceremony was concluded with prayer and pledge to support the disabled enabling them to stand on their feet and become part of the civilized society
